Job Overview

High school Tuscarora, Basketball coaching position. Season runs Winter, November - February.

Roles And Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining high academic standards for all student athletes.
• Assist the athletic director and principal in hiring and/or retaining assistant coaches.
• Direct, supervise, and evaluate assistant coaches regularly.
• Work with the athletic director to ensure proper insurance coverage for all athletes.
• Collaborate with other head athletic coaches to operate a balanced athletic program.
• Promote sportsmanship, pride, and appreciation of athletics among participants and spectators.
• Oversee training, conditioning, and performance of the varsity team; supervise assistant coaches.
• Be a positive influence on the behavior of athletic staff and teams.
• Be present at all varsity contests and as many junior varsity and freshmen contests as possible; supervise athletes at invitational meets or postseason.
• Advise the athletic director on scheduling, officials, equipment, and facility needs.
• Ensure all athletes pass medical examinations before practices begin.
• Organize recruitment and development of team support staff such as equipment managers and statisticians.
• Maintain records, statistics, news, and photographs of teams.
• Recommend students for varsity letters and certificates.
• Observe sub-varsity practices and games.
• Perform other duties as requested by the principal and athletic director.

Qualifications

• Coaching or participation experience in the sport at high school or college level.
• CPR and First Aid certification or enrollment in such courses.
• Experience as a teacher or classified employee in Loudoun County Public Schools preferred.
• Virginia Teaching License or full-time classified employee preferred.
