Job Overview
High school Briar Woods, Cheerleading coaching position. Season runs Fall, August - November.
Roles And Responsibilities
- Assist in maintaining high academic standards for all student athletes.
- Assist the athletic director and principal in hiring and retaining assistant coaches.
- Direct, supervise, and evaluate the performance of all assistant coaches.
- Work with the athletic director to ensure proper insurance coverage for all athletes.
- Collaborate with other head coaches to operate a balanced athletic program.
- Promote sportsmanship, pride, and appreciation of athletics among participants and spectators.
- Lead training, conditioning, and performance of the varsity team; supervise assistant coaches.
- Set a positive example for athletic staff and teams.
- Be present at all varsity contests and as many junior varsity and freshmen contests as possible; supervise athletes at invitational and postseason events.
- Advise on schedule preparation for the sport.
- Assist in the selection and evaluation of officials.
- Recommend equipment and supplies; manage inventory and maintenance.
- Report on athletic facilities and needs.
- Ensure athletes’ medical examinations are completed before the season.
- Encourage student participation and develop support staff like managers and statisticians.
- Maintain records, statistics, news, and photos of teams.
- Recommend athletes for varsity or junior varsity awards.
- Suggest prospective coaches when needed.
- Observe sub varsity practices and games.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or athletic director.
Qualifications
- Coaching or participation experience at high school or college level in the sport.
- CPR and First Aid certification or current enrollment in such courses.
- Preferred: Experience as a teacher or classified employee in Loudoun County Public Schools.
- Preferred: Virginia Teaching License or full-time classified employee status in Loudoun County Public Schools.
