Job Overview

High school Independence, Basketball coaching position. Season runs Winter, November - February.

Roles And Responsibilities

1. Assist in maintaining high academic standards for all student athletes.
2. Assist the athletic director and principal in hiring and/or retaining assistant coaches.
3. Direct, supervise, and evaluate the performance of all assistant coaches.
4. Work with the athletic director to ensure proper insurance coverage for athletes.
5. Collaborate with other head coaches to operate a balanced athletic program.
6. Foster appreciation of athletics, good sportsmanship, and pride among participants and spectators.
7. Direct training, conditioning, and performance of the varsity team and supervise assistant coaches.
8. Act as a positive influence on the athletic staff and teams.
9. Be present at all varsity contests and as many junior varsity and freshmen contests as possible, including invitational meets or postseason competitions.
10. Advise on scheduling, officials, equipment, and facilities maintenance.
11. Ensure all athletes pass medical examinations before the season.
12. Organize recruitment and development of support staff like equipment managers and statisticians.
13. Maintain records, statistics, news, and photographs of teams.
14. Recommend students for varsity letters and certificates.
15. Observe sub varsity practices and games.
16. Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or athletic director.

Qualifications

• Coaching or participation experience in high school or college level.
• CPR and First Aid certification or current enrollment in such courses.
• Prefer experience as a teacher or classified employee in Loudoun County Public Schools.
• Prefer a Virginia Teaching License or full-time classified employment in Loudoun County Schools.
