Job summary

Department of Transportation in Edgecomb, Maine seeks a mechanical craft worker to maintain, repair, and rebuild heavy equipment in the field across the Midcoast region. Responsibilities include diagnosing mechanical and electrical problems, testing and installing parts, and performing skilled tasks with a high degree of independence.

The role requires several years of hands-on experience with heavy vehicles and construction equipment, a Class B CDL with air endorsements, and valid Maine

Qualifications

• Four (4) years experience in maintenance, repair, or rebuild of automotive/construction equipment.
• Two (2) years with heavy vehicle/construction equipment.
• One (1) year of independent work.
• Experience receiving, storing, and distributing parts/supplies.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, repair and rebuild heavy equipment in the field or in a field garage.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems and evaluate conditions.
• Test, install, repair, rebuild, rewire, replace and fabricate parts as needed.
• Operate with a higher degree of independence in field environments and under limited supervision.
