Job summary

The Maine Department of Transportation in Skowhegan is seeking a heavy equipment technician to maintain, repair, and rebuild a range of automotive and construction equipment under general supervision.

Qualified applicants will have four years of hands-on experience, plus two years with heavy equipment; a Class B CDL with air endorsements and related inspection licenses may be required. The role offers state benefits and a competitive hourly pay range.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of experience, education, and/or training in the maintenance, repair, and/or rebuilding of automotive and/or construction equipment, including two (2) years of experience working with heavy vehicle and construction equipment.
• Licensing/registration/certification requirements: Class B CDL with air endorsements; Class A & D inspection licenses; some positions may include Class E inspection license.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, repair, and rebuild heavy vehicles and construction equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems and evaluate overall conditions.
• Test, install, repair, rebuild, rewire, replace parts under supervision.
