Job summary

Langan Engineering & Environmental Services in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join our collaborative team. The role focuses on planning and executing field investigations, monitoring earthwork, and preparing logs and reports for large-scale projects.

The position requires a Civil/Geotechnical engineering degree, 1+ years of experience, EIT/FE, and strong communication. A willingness to work in the field and travel to client sites is essential.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of work-related experience in geotechnical engineering.
• US citizenship is a client-mandated requirement for federal projects.
• EIT certification or FE exam registration is required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail with analytical and multitasking abilities.
• Willingness to spend most work hours in the field.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for client meetings and site visits.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute field investigations, log borings and test pits, collect samples, and record data.
• Observe foundation and earthwork construction; ensure conformance with documents.
• Identify and implement solutions to field and laboratory problems.
• Prepare logs, field forms, logs, and chain-of-custody records.
• Conduct file reviews, site reconnaissance, and document searches.
• Communicate issues to supervisor and perform other duties as needed.
