Job summary

Langan Engineering & Environmental Services is seeking an Entry-Level Geotechnical Engineer to join our Philadelphia, PA team. You will assist in field investigations, monitor earthwork construction, prepare logs, and help develop geotechnical reports for large projects.

Ideal candidates have a Civil/Geotechnical background, 0–2 years experience, and a strong eye for detail. A valid driver’s license is desirable as you will travel to client sites regularly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering is required.
• 0–2 years of work experience.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• EIT Certification, or current registration for FE exam preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail with analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities.
• Willingness to spend the majority of work hours in the field.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the planning and execution of field investigations, including logging borings and test pits, collecting samples, performing field tests, and recording data.
• Observe foundation and earthwork construction activities; monitor conformance with construction documents.
• Identify and implement solutions to field and/or laboratory problems.
• Prepare logs and field forms, including drilling and test pit logs and chain of custody logs.
• Conduct site reconnaissance and document searches.
• Communicate issues to supervisor clearly and promptly.
• Perform other duties as requested.
