Job summary

MacAllister Machinery Co., Inc. seeks a Field Service Technician to perform mechanical and electrical services on engines, generators, UPS, switchgear, and related system products for the Power System’s Service Department.

The role includes first-time installations, coordinating start-ups with other systems, and performing service and repairs. You will document work, record time, and maintain company vehicles and equipment while ensuring safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent with technical background or vocational training preferred in engine or electrical generator service.
• 3-5 years mechanical experience with generators and engines, preferably Caterpillar, with hydraulics/electrical knowledge.
• Good problem solving, diagnostic and troubleshooting skills with policy, procedure and warranty understanding.
• Strong product knowledge and ability to operate PC-based industry programs.
• Ability to work overtime and weekends; valid CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Installs, services and repairs, generators, UPS, switchgear, automatic transfer switch, and related system products for the Power System’s Service Department. Includes first-time start-up installations and coordinating with other systems to ensure proper operation.
• Diagnoses and troubleshoots electrical and mechanical problems to assure the entire system runs safely and efficiently.
• Initiates and completes all paperwork for service/repair, including service reports, time records, parts charged and returned, and equipment details.
• Maintains excellent customer communication, meeting needs and time constraints while delivering high-quality workmanship.
• Maintains company-issued vehicle and tools, meets DOT requirements, and operates a CDL field service vehicle and forklift.
• Performs related duties as required.
