Job summary

MacAllister Machinery Co., Inc. seeks a Field Generator Technician to perform mechanical and electrical services on engines, generators, UPS, and switchgear in the Power System Service Department.

You will install, start up, diagnose, and repair equipment, coordinating with related systems and ensuring safe operation. The role requires strong problem-solving and customer-service skills, the ability to work with little supervision, and compliance with DOT regulations.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent with vocational training in engine or electrical generator service.
• 3-5 years mechanical experience with generators and engines, preferably Caterpillar, and hydraulics/electrical knowledge.
• Strong problem-solving, diagnostic and troubleshooting skills; ability to interpret policies and warranty basics.
• Good product knowledge and strong customer service mindset.
• PC literacy with ability to use industry software and service reporting.

Responsibilities

• Installs, services and repairs generators, UPS, switchgear, and transfer devices, coordinating start-ups with related systems.
• Diagnoses and troubleshoots electrical and mechanical problems to ensure safe, efficient operation.
• Completes service paperwork, records time, parts used, serial numbers, and equipment info.
• Maintains vehicle, equipment, and tools; meets DOT requirements and CDL driving needs.
• Communicates with customers to understand needs and complete repairs within agreed timeframes.
