Job summary

Hardy Industries is recruiting skilled Fiber Testing and Splicing Technicians to support a national client base. Expect field work across diverse environments, performing OTDR tests, splicing, troubleshooting, and documentation of results.

Eligible candidates have 1 year of fiber/IT/telecom experience or 5+ years in the field, plus relevant certifications. This 1099 contractor role includes travel, on-site work, and ongoing training opportunities.

Qualifications

• Fiber optic testing and troubleshooting experience required
• Experience with OTDRs, power meters, light sources, fiber certification equipment, and visual fault locators
• Understanding of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic systems
• Familiarity with structured cabling standards and best practices
• Ability to read network diagrams, splice schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation
• At least 1 year of Fiber, IT, or Telecom experience, and one of the certifications listed or 5+ years field experience

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of fiber optic and technical tasks including but not limited to:
• Fiber optic splicing using fusion and mechanical splicing techniques
• OTDR testing, power meter testing, light source testing, and fiber certification
• Fiber continuity testing and fault-distance identification
• Connector inspection, cleaning, and remediation
• Patch-cord troubleshooting and fiber jumper replacement
• Installation, termination, and testing of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cabling
• Identification and troubleshooting of customer-premise and network-side impairments
• Documentation of test results, splicing records, and project deliverables
• Work independently across environments including retail, medical, restaurant, corporate, telecommunications, and data center facilities
• Maintain professionalism with clients and project stakeholders
• Be available to accept service requests within your coverage territory depending on availability, not full time
