Job summary

Hardy Industries is seeking skilled Fiber Testing and Splicing Technicians to support our growing national client base. This 1099 contractor role involves field work across multiple environments, performing OTDR testing, fiber certification, splicing, and fault isolation.

Qualifications include fiber testing experience and one of the listed certifications or 5+ years field experience. A personal vehicle, valid license, and basic tools are required, with travel within a wide territory emphasized.

Qualifications

• Fiber optic testing and troubleshooting experience required.
• Experience with OTDRs, power meters, light sources, fiber certification equipment, and visual fault locators.
• Understanding of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic systems.
• Familiarity with structured cabling standards and best practices.
• Ability to read network diagrams, splice schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
• At least 1 year of Fiber, I.T., or Telecom experience, and one of the listed certifications or 5+ years field experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of fiber optic and technical tasks including but not limited to: Fiber optic splicing using fusion and mechanical splicing techniques.
• OTDR testing, power meter testing, light source testing, and fiber certification.
• Fiber continuity testing and fault-distance identification.
• Connector inspection, cleaning, and remediation.
• Patch-cord troubleshooting and fiber jumper replacement.
• Installation, termination, and testing of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cabling.
• Identification and troubleshooting of customer-premise and network-side impairments.
• Documentation of test results, splicing records, and project deliverables.
• Work independently across environments including retail, medical, restaurant, corporate, telecommunications, and data centers.
• Maintain professionalism with clients and project stakeholders.
• Be available to accept service requests within coverage territory depending on availability.
