Job summary

IQ Fiber is seeking a Fiber Splicer to install, splice, test, certify, and repair our fiber optic network. This role is approximately 90% field-based, with significant time on customer premises and a requirement to support a 24/7/365 operation, including emergencies.

The splicer will perform splicing, testing with OTDR/PON meters, and QA checks, ensuring safety and high-quality workmanship on all installations and repairs.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of telecommunications experience required, with strong fiber splicing and testing knowledge.
• Proficiency with optical test equipment including OTDR and PON meters.
• Valid driver's license with clean MVR; ability to drive night and adverse weather.
• Proficient computer skills to process trouble tickets; MS Excel and Word.
• Excellent vision, depth perception, and manual dexterity; ability to lift 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Splice fiber drops and pigtails and repair outdoor drops as needed.
• Install and troubleshoot OSP distribution fiber and associated equipment.
• Work on customer premises with a focus on safety and quality.
• Use OTDR, PON meters, and other tools to test, certify, and validate services.
• Respond to outages; participate in on-call rotations and after-hours work.
