Job summary

IQ Fiber is seeking a Fiber Splicer to install, splice, test, certify, and repair our fiber optic network. This role is primarily field-based and involves customer premises work, with on-call requirements for outages and emergencies.

You will use OTDR, PON meters, volt/ohm meters, toners, and other diagnostic tools to ensure service quality and safety in line with IQ Fiber standards. Local candidates in St. Petersburg, FL are preferred.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of telecommunications experience required, with strong fiber splicing and testing knowledge.
• Proficiency with optical test equipment such as OTDR, PON meters, volt/ohm meters, and toners.
• Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean MVR and ability to drive in various conditions.
• Proficient using Microsoft Excel and Word for trouble tickets and reporting.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work at heights or in confined spaces as needed.

Responsibilities

• Splice fiber drops and pigtails using a core alignment splicing machine and repair underground drops.
• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot OSP distribution fiber from hub to end user.
• Place fiber inside customer premises from single-family homes to MDUs.
• Test, certify, and validate IQ Fiber services using OTDR, PON meters, volt/ohm meters, and toners.
• Respond to outages promptly and remain on-call to support 24/7/365 operations.
• Perform contractor QA checks to ensure safety, quality, and technical standards.
