Job summary

IQ Fiber is seeking a Fiber Splicer to install, splice, test, certify, and repair our fiber optic network. This role is 90% field-based, interfacing with customers on-site and supporting a 24/7/365 operation for outages and emergencies.

You will work on OSP drops, splitter cabinets, NIDs, and related equipment, ensuring safety and quality standards. The position requires hands-on splicing, test equipment proficiency (OTDR, PON meters, volt/ohm meters, toners), and the ability to lift 50 pounds

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of telecommunications experience, with fiber splicing and OSP infrastructure knowledge.
• Proficiency with OTDR, PON meters, volt/ohm meters, and toners; skilled with core-alignment splicing machines.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license with a clean MVR; able to drive at night and in adverse weather.
• Computer skills to process trouble tickets; proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Must have close vision, color vision, depth perception, and good hand‑eye coordination.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly, climb ladders and work on utility poles up to 28 feet in adverse conditions.
• Availability for a 24/7/365 operation including on‑call rotations, emergency response, mandatory overtime, and after‑hours/weekend work.

Responsibilities

• Splice fiber drops and pigtails using a core alignment splicing machine; repair underground drop pipes and splice from vault to NID as needed.
• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot OSP distribution fiber from hub to end user; install splitter cabinets, patch panels, NIDs, and related equipment.
• Route fiber inside customer premises across single-family homes to MDUs with precision and professionalism.
• Use OTDR and diagnostic tools to test, certify, and validate IQ Fiber services.
• Respond to outages quickly, staying in service until resolved; support on-call periods and emergencies.
• Perform contractor QA checks and ensure field work meets safety, quality, and technical standards.
• Deliver top-tier customer service in residential and commercial environments with professional communication.
• Maintain safety, productivity, quality, and equipment; comply with OSHA and IQ Fiber policies.
