Job summary

GHD is seeking a Junior Environmental Professional to join the Emergency Management team (GHD FIRST). This role can be based in Chicago with travel across the U.S. to support environmental incidents and projects.

You will assist in field and office activities, gaining exposure to sampling, air quality assessments, hazardous material response, and ICS while learning from experienced professionals to develop your skills in environmental emergency response.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, environmental science, geology, or related field.
• 0-2 years of relevant experience in environmental engineering, science, or geology.
• Willingness to travel and work in dynamic field conditions.
• Ability to follow safety protocols and attention to detail in field and office.
• Must reside near Chicago Illinois.
• Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in a range of environmental response and remediation activities.
• Gain exposure to environmental sampling, monitoring, air quality assessments, hazardous material response, and ICS.
• Conduct data collection, report generation, and documentation tasks.
• Support project management and client communications.
