Job summary

WSP is seeking an Environmental Engineer to support due diligence, site investigation, remediation, and environmental compliance projects in the Baltimore, MD area, reporting to multiple offices including Baltimore, Herndon, and Washington, DC.

You will plan and implement investigations, manage waste programs, perform field inspections, and contribute to monitoring and reporting to protect environmental quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental, Civil, Sanitary, Chemical, Industrial, Agricultural, or Public Health Engineering.
• 3–5 years of relevant post-education environmental engineering experience.
• Engineer in Training certification and on-the-job development toward PE.
• Knowledge of environmental laws, regulations, and compliance practices.
• Ability to coordinate with regulators and understand requirements.
• Knowledge of reducing hazardous substances and mitigation programs.
• Techniques for sampling, measuring environmental media and data.
• Ability to work with regulatory agencies and adhere to standards.

Responsibilities

• Collect environmental data from air, soil, water, sludge and other matrices for projects and surveys.
• Assist with investigations of vapor intrusion sources and waste management programs.
• Evaluate site conditions and environmental data for risk assessment.
• Prepare data visualizations, tables, charts and concise technical reports.
• Maintain QA/QC and accurate measurements and analyses.
• Assist with scoping site investigations and remediation projects.
• Contribute to technical reports and presentations explaining findings.
• Conduct environmental studies to inform future needs and risk plans.
• Analyze data and develop action plans for risk mitigation.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and HASP development.
• Follow health and safety policies and company procedures.
• Travel occasionally as project needs require.
