Job summary

Stantec is seeking an Environmental Compliance Field Team Leader to provide on-site leadership for environmental monitoring on active construction projects. The role balances hands-on field work with supervision, reporting, and coordination across project teams.

Ideal candidates will have 5+ years in environmental permitting and supervision of field staff, with strong regulatory knowledge and communication skills. Regular travel and a valid driver’s license are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resources, Biology, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in environmental permitting, multi-disciplinary natural resource assessment, environmental compliance, or environmental monitoring.
• Demonstrated experience leading or supervising field staff on construction or infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead environmental compliance monitoring on site and serve as embedded team member when required.
• Conduct inspections for stormwater, erosion controls, wetlands, habitats, and endangered species; document findings.
• Inspect SPCC plans, air quality permits, noise controls, and other permit requirements.
• Mentor staff; assign tasks and provide performance feedback.
• Interpret permit conditions and coordinate with subject-matter experts.
• Identify risks and coordinate mitigation with construction personnel and project teams.
• Review field observations for permit alignment and project requirements.
• Assist in pre-construction planning and turnover to operations.
• Support scheduling and staffing for the Resource Team Leader.
• Establish site mapping and paperless documentation protocols.
• Prepare and submit environmental inspection reports and notifications to clients/regulators.
• Act as primary field contact for environmental compliance with contractors and regulators.
• Promote HSSE compliance and supervise field training.
