Job summary

Stantec is seeking an Environmental Compliance Field Team Leader to provide technical leadership and on-site oversight of environmental compliance monitoring on active construction projects. The role combines hands-on field work with supervisory duties, ensuring high-quality inspections and clear communication to project teams and clients.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in environmental permitting or monitoring, a relevant bachelor’s degree, and strong leadership, documentation, and MS Office

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in environmental permitting, monitoring, or compliance.
• Experience leading or supervising field staff on construction/infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Act as lead environmental compliance monitor onsite, possibly embedded with a client team.
• Conduct inspections for stormwater, erosion control, wetlands, threatened species, and other permits.
• Coordinate with project teams to identify risks and implement corrective actions.
• Mentor junior staff and assign tasks, providing performance feedback.
• Interpret permit conditions and communicate requirements to contractors and stakeholders.
• Maintain field documentation, reports, and compliance records.
