Job summary

Clean Harbors is seeking an Environmental Field Chemist (CleanPack Chemist) to handle, segregate, pack, and inspect chemical waste at customer sites and plants. This entry-level management track offers growth into 15+ positions across Clean Harbors with focused training and field exposure.

Role involves indoor/outdoor work, lab pack assistance, HHW collections, and travel to customer facilities. CDL-B with hazmat is required within 6 months and a valid driver’s license is mandatory.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver’s license
• Strong customer service skills
• CDL Class B with hazmat and tanker endorsement within 6 months of employment
• Physical requirements per job
• Background check, drug test and physical as applicable (by position)
• OSHA Respiratory Protection Standard compliance (29 CFR 1910.34)

Responsibilities

• Prioritize Health and Safety in all tasks and comply with policies
• Prepare packing lists, labels, manifests, and land disposal restriction notices
• Inspect staging, accumulating and storage areas for housekeeping and compliance
• Inspect drums for leaks, spills and labeling compliance
• Collect, segregate, and package waste chemicals for disposal
• Execute jobs at customer locations, including Fortune 500 companies
• Finalize projects before shipment in line with OSHA, EPA, DOT and company policies
• Follow site-specific regulations and health and safety plans
• Understand customer disposal restrictions and special packaging requirements
• Sample and profile new waste streams requiring analytical testing
• Ensure correct drum count and ship readiness
• Follow all local, state, and federal regulations
• Safely operate vehicles per DOT and related rules
• Perform other duties as assigned
