Job summary

Norfolk Southern is seeking a Field Engineering Trainee for its Maintenance of Way department. You will train under supervisors to oversee inspections, repair, and maintenance of railroad tracks and bridges, learning train and track dynamics and inspection processes.

After six months, you will manage track maintenance staff and be involved in inspections and remediation scheduling, with extensive travel to various locations; relocation benefits provided in some positions.

Qualifications

• Preferred Level: Bachelor's Degree (BS).
• Other education and experience levels are considered.
• Majors include Civil, Mining, Construction, General, Mechanical, Industrial Eng. and Biosystems/Management.
• In lieu of a degree: 4+ years of leadership and industrial experience.

Responsibilities

• Train under current supervisors in field supervision and way operations.
• Lead inspections, repair, and maintenance programs for tracks and bridges.
• Manage track maintenance employees after training and coordinate defect remediation.
