Job summary

Wharton-Smith, Inc. is seeking an experienced Field Engineer to support the Water/Wastewater Division in the Baton Rouge, LA area on a current project in Jackson, MS. The role focuses on field tasks and coordination under the Project Superintendent and Craft Foreman.

Responsibilities include assisting with structure layout, field procurements, shop drawings, logs, RFIs, and scheduling. Strong communication and engineering support are essential to ensure safe, timely construction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction-related field.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with surveying/layout and technical writing.

Responsibilities

• Assist Foreman with structure layout.
• Field purchase orders.
• Engineering duties as assigned for construction planning.
• Maintain and update project logs and schedules.
• Identify need for RFIs.
• Prepare, review and process shop drawings.
• Maintain as-built drawings.
• Collect and assemble O&M material.
• Perform subcontract scope analysis.
• Assist with purchasing and expediting.
• Document distribution.
• Meeting minutes and distribution.
• Scheduling.
