Job summary

Wharton-Smith, Inc. in Sanford, NC is seeking a Field Engineer – Water/Wastewater to support field operations and collaborate with the Superintendent, Subcontractors, and Project Engineers.

You will help develop work plans, coordinate activities, review safety and quality, manage RFIs and submittals, maintain drawings, and support project cost accounting while ensuring schedule adherence and compliance on site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• 0–4 years of construction-related experience.
• Excellent communication and coordination with project teams.
• Certified Competent Person in trenching, scaffolding and more.
• Knowledge of surveying fundamentals and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and assist with facility start-up activities.
• Attend meetings with Subcontractors, progress, and team.
• Maintain logs and files on site.
• Manage field RFIs and approved submittals.
• Maintain as-built drawings and field files.
• Monitor productivity and support project cost control.
• Schedule inspections with building departments.
• Travel daily to assigned jobsite and occasional overnight travel.
• Create and maintain safety records and site SOPs.
