Job summary

Wharton-Smith, Inc. in the Sanford, Florida area seeks both experienced and entry-level Project Engineers to support the Water/Wastewater Division.

The successful candidate will work closely with estimating, project assistants, the Project Superintendent and Project Manager on construction management tasks for water and wastewater facilities. The role emphasizes coordinating with subcontractors and vendors, maintaining schedules, and assisting with shop drawings and procurement to ensure on-time

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• 1-2 years of internship experience or project management/engineering preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties related to the construction management of water and wastewater facilities and pump stations for local municipalities as part of their capital improvement programs.
• Develop Purchase Order and Subcontractor Scopes of Work to facilitate project buyout.
• Coordinating with Subcontractors and Vendors throughout the project.
• Identify and draft RFIs to the Owner or Engineer.
• Maintain and update project schedules using P6 scheduling software.
• Prepare, review and process shop drawings.
