Job summary

Wharton-Smith, Inc. is seeking an experienced Field Engineer to work in the Water/Wastewater Division in the Baton Rouge, LA area and on a current project in Jackson, MS.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the successful completion of field tasks as assigned by the Project Superintendent and Craft Foreman. The role involves assisting with layout, field purchases, and engineering duties to support construction planning, with emphasis on maintaining logs, schedules, and as-built

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or other relevant degree.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist Foreman with structure layout
• Field purchase orders
• Engineering duties as assigned for assistance in planning construction.
• Maintain and update project logs and schedules.
• Identify need for RFIs
• Prepare, review and process shop drawings
• Maintain as-built drawings
• Collect and assemble O&M material
• Perform subcontract scope analysis
• Assist with purchasing and expediting
• Document distribution
• Meeting minutes and distribution
• Scheduling.
