Job summary

Wharton-Smith, Inc. in Florence, SC is seeking an experienced Field Engineer to support the Water/Wastewater Division. You will assist the Project Superintendent and Craft Foreman with field tasks, layout, shop drawings, and documentation.

The role requires a Civil/Mechanical/Construction Management degree, strong surveying and technical writing skills, and excellent communication to coordinate with field teams and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or other relevant degree.

Responsibilities

• Assist Foreman with structure layout.
• Perform field purchase orders and support planning of construction.
• Engage in engineering duties as assigned for field planning.
• Maintain and update project logs and schedules.
• Identify need for RFIs and process shop drawings.
• Maintain as-built drawings and gather O&M materials.
• Perform subcontract scope analysis and assist purchasing/expediting.
• Distribute documents and prepare meeting minutes.
• Support scheduling and coordination with field teams.

Wharton-Smith, Inc. is currently seeking an experienced Field Engineer to work in the Water/Wastewater Division in the Florence, SC area. The successful candidate will be responsible for successful completion of field tasks as assigned by the Project Superintendent and Craft Foreman.

Responsibilities

• Assist Foreman with structure layout
• Field purchase orders
• Engineering duties as assigned for assistance in planning construction.
• Maintain and update project logs and schedules.
• Identify need for Requests for Information (RFIs).
• Prepare, review and process shop drawings.
• Maintain as-built drawings.
• Collect and assemble O&M material.
• Perform subcontract scope analysis.
• Assist with purchasing and expediting.
• Document distribution.
• Meeting minutes and distribution.
• Scheduling.
