Job summary

Vertiv is hiring a Field Engineer - Electrical Testing (NETA III/IV) in Texas. You will perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on electrical power systems up to 500 kV, conducting studies and calibrating protective relays.

Travel up to 75% for regional and national projects, with strong emphasis on safety and quality. You will mentor technicians, lead multi-discipline teams, and ensure compliance with NETA MTS/ATS, NFPA 70E, and OSHA standards while delivering high-value

Qualifications

• NETA Level III or IV certification (current)
• 7+ years hands-on electrical testing in medium/high voltage environments
• Expert knowledge of NETA MTS/ATS standards
• Proficiency with test equipment: Doble, Megger, Omicron, Dranetz, SKF
• Strong understanding of protective relay schemes and coordination
• Ability to read and interpret one-line/three-line diagrams, schematics, P&IDs
• Valid driver's license with clean record
• Willingness to travel regionally up to 75% (Texas regional and national projects)

Responsibilities

• Perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on electrical power systems up to 500kV
• Conduct power system studies including short-circuit, coordination, arc flash, and power quality analysis
• Test and calibrate protective relays (electromechanical, solid-state, microprocessor-based)
• Perform insulation resistance, power factor, and contact resistance testing on transformers, switchgear, cables, and breakers
• Interpret and analyze test results; author engineering reports with findings and recommendations
• Troubleshoot complex electrical system failures under time-critical conditions
• Mentor Level I/II technicians and serve as technical lead on multi-discipline projects
• Maintain compliance with NETA MTS/ATS, NFPA 70E, and OSHA safety requirements
