Job summary

Kiewit Nuclear Solutions in Lenexa, KS is seeking a Field Engineer Intern to support field construction activities. You will interpret designs, adjust them for site conditions, and aid in managing technical issues while ensuring safety and quality on critical projects.

This internship offers rigorous training, exposure to nuclear projects across North America, and opportunities to rotate between field and office, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering or related field.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications to ensure completeness and constructability.
• Strong written and verbal communication with management, customers, peers, and craft personnel.
• Aptitude for field verifications to oversee and enforce drawings, specifications, codes and standards.
• Collaborative problem solving between design engineers and constructors to resolve issues.
• Knowledge of basic construction safety.
• Attention to detail and a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Provides technical support in estimating, construction formation, project execution, testing/inspection, and closeout.
• Maintains records of installed quantities and completed construction work.
• Assists in permits/clearances, lockouts, and work authorizations prior to site work.
• Performs verification of work to meet safety, quality, environmental, and schedule requirements.
• Assists in preparing procedures, admin and technical documents.
• May prepare purchase requisitions for materials and services.
• Reviews lessons learned and coordinates with corporate personnel.
