Job summary

Kiewit Nuclear Solutions is seeking an Electrical Engineer Intern to support design engineering, calculations, and planning for construction projects. You will help establish and improve standards and tools while contributing to project success in North America.

The role targets students pursuing Electrical Engineering with ABET accreditation, strong GPA, and interest in power systems. Expect collaboration with engineers, designers, and vendors, with training and safety as priorities.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's or master's in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited institution, in good standing.
• Preferred GPA above 3.0.
• Interest in power systems engineering.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Collaborative approach.
• Junior or senior status preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word; willingness to learn department design software.
• Must be a US citizen with documentation for badge access.
• Pass a security questionnaire and background check appropriate to position duties.

Responsibilities

• Review wiring diagrams, schematics, data sheets, and related drawings.
• Analyze requirements from engineering standards, contracts, and proposals.
• Prepare basic calculations and drawings per Kiewit standards.
• Draft equipment specifications for major electrical components.
• Evaluate bids.
• Coordinate equipment contracts with vendors.
• Maintain engineering records and lists.
• Manage cable and raceway data using scheduling software.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, project managers, construction teams, and vendors.
• Learn design standards, engineering codes, and policies.
