Job summary

HNTB is seeking an intern to support engineering inspection and documentation for major infrastructure projects. The role focuses on on-site field activities, reviewing drawings, and coordinating material testing to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and contract provisions.

Ideal candidates are current or former interns at HNTB who can assist in office and field tasks, communicate clearly, and apply emerging tools like GPS/Rovers to improve accuracy and efficiency in inspection

Qualifications

• Engineering inspection and documentation are core duties for this role.
• Ability to assist in field inspections and coordinate testing services.
• Familiarity with construction drawings and report preparation.

Responsibilities

• Assists with construction field work tasks to ensure conformance to plans and specs.
• Observes on-site material testing and coordinates testing services.
• Reads and interprets construction drawings and identifies discrepancies.
• Reviews contractor daily reports for accuracy and progress.
• Consults with Resident Engineer to resolve issues and liaises with the engineer of record.
• Keeps current with industry technology and uses GPS/Rovers to improve inspection accuracy.
• Performs office engineer work when needed.
