Job summary

Hensel Phelps in Austin, TX is seeking a Field Engineer to support the Superintendent in front-line field management on construction projects. You will handle project layout, quality control, safety coordination, and collaboration with the VDC team to interpret plans and models.

The role requires a 4-year degree in Civil/Structural/Architecture or Construction Management, plus at least 1 year of related experience and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills.
• 1 year of experience and/or a combination of education and experience.
• A 4-year degree in Civil, Structural, Architecture, Construction Management or related field.

Responsibilities

• Project layout (surveying) in conformance with design and contract documents.
• Check concrete forms for accuracy and adequacy of construction, including embedded items.
• Perform production trend analysis for quantities of work in place and report for the schedule and cost control reports.
• Assist with quality control, site safety initiatives and coordination of trade partners.
• May include directing a small work force to gain supervisory experience.
• Coordinate material deliveries by checking requirements and delivery status.
• Inspect materials delivered for quantity, quality, and condition and report missing/damaged items.
• Assist foremen and trade partners with interpretation of plans and specs.
• Oversee trade partners and direct workforces to gain supervisory experience.
• Participate in jobsite safety meetings and weekly safety audits.
• Collaborate with the VDC team on scope, plan, and deliverables for field operations.
• Review and navigate within the current 3D model viewing and scheduling software.
