Job summary

Hensel Phelps is seeking a Field Engineer to support the Superintendent in front‑line field management on landmark projects. The FE will handle layout, supervision of trade workers, lift drawings, safety, and quality control both in the field and field office.

This role is safety sensitive and builds toward office engineering tracks. The candidate should have a 4‑year civil/structural/construction mgmt degree, 1 year of related experience, a valid driver's license, and strong communication

Qualifications

• A 4-year degree in Civil, Structural, Architecture, Construction Management or related field.
• 1 year of experience and/or a combination of education and experience.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Strong communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel templates; ProjectSight, Primavera and AutoDesk Suite.
• Past internships in construction preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Project layout (surveying) per design and contract documents.
• Check concrete forms for accuracy including embedded items.
• Produce production trend analysis for quantities and reports.
• Assist with quality control, safety initiatives, and coordination of trade partners.
• Coordinate material deliveries and check requirements against status.
• Inspect materials for quantity, quality, and condition and report issues.
• Assist foremen and trade partners with plans and specs interpretation.
• Oversee trade partners and direct workforces to gain supervisory experience.
• Participate in jobsite safety meetings and audits.
• Collaborate with VDC team on scope, plan, and deliverables for field ops.
• Review and navigate in 3D model viewing and scheduling software.
