Job summary

Allan Myers, Inc. in Richmond, VA is seeking an entry-level civil engineer to support crews on heavy civil construction projects, focusing on planning, scheduling, execution and cost control. This on-site role requires working from the regional office and adherence to safety and quality standards.

You will interpret plans, develop work plans, perform laborer tasks, document progress, and assist in purchasing and invoicing. A B.S. in a related field and a valid driver's license are required.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related major.
• 0-2 years of engineering or construction experience.
• Microsoft Office proficient.

Responsibilities

• Communicates and reinforces company culture, safety policies and leadership practices on the team.
• Supports a crew by developing work plans and schedules.
• Performs laborer tasks as part of a crew (pipe, excavation, site cleanup, painting, maintenance).
• Interprets contract plans and specifications.
• Ensures work meets requirements and production targets.
• Documents projects through diaries, photos, video, inspections and logs.
• Develops submissions and tracks status to final approval.
• Assists in negotiation, pricing and purchasing of parts and materials.
• Assists in managing fabrication and material delivery; tracks cost codes and invoicing.
• Tracks quantities of work performed by company and subcontractors; inputs for billing.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Supports safety initiatives and Home Safe Tonight program; may join Safe Production Teams.
• May assist with Daily Written Work Plans and Work Hazard assessments.
