Job summary

Ampcus Inc. is seeking a Field Engineer 4 to provide on-site laptop and desktop repair services across Costa Mesa and the metro area. You will troubleshoot hardware, replace components, repair peripherals, and document service tickets in real time using the company system.

Qualifications

• 1 year of hands‑on laptop/desktop break‑fix experience.
• CompTIA A+ certification required; if not held, must obtain within 90 days of start date.
• U.S. citizenship or valid U.S. work authorization.
• Own a reliable vehicle and valid car insurance.
• Able to diagnose and repair computer hardware issues.
• Ability to travel to customer locations as needed.
• Proficient in documenting service activities and tickets.

Responsibilities

• Repair laptops and desktops at customer locations throughout the metro area.
• Replace hardware components including hard drives, motherboards, keyboards, and LCD screens.
• Perform complete unit replacements and repair/replace peripherals.
• Diagnose hardware and software issues and resolve basic problems.
• Close service tickets in real time using the provided system.
• Record service activities, time, location, and repair details accurately.

Job Title: Field Engineer 4

Location(s): Costa Mesa, CA

Job Summary: Seeking a Field Computer Technician to provide onsite laptop and desktop repair services across the metro area and surrounding locations. The technician will handle hardware troubleshooting, component replacement, peripheral repairs, and service ticket documentation. This position requires reliable personal transportation, hands-on computer repair experience, and the ability to travel to customer locations.

Responsibilities

• Repair laptops and desktop computers at customer locations throughout the metro area.
• Replace hardware components, including hard drives, motherboards, keyboards, and LCD screens.
• Perform complete unit replacements and repair or replace PC peripherals as needed.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot computer hardware and software issues.
• Resolve basic technical problems as directed.
• Close service tickets in real time using the provided phone and service management system.
• Record service activities, time, location, and repair details accurately.
• Travel to customer locations throughout the assigned service area.
• Complete required product training and certifications.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of hands-on laptop and desktop break-fix experience.
• CompTIA A+ certification required. Candidates who do not hold the certification at the time of selection must obtain it within 90 days of their start date.
• Valid U.S. work authorization and U.S. citizenship.
• Own reliable vehicle and valid car insurance.
• General knowledge of laptop and desktop hardware and software.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft applications.
• Ability to diagnose and repair computer hardware issues.
• Ability to travel 2-3 hours to customer locations when required.
• Ability to perform administrative tasks using a provided phone, including real-time reporting and service ticket documentation.
• Ability to complete required product training.
• Ability to pass drug screening and background verification.
• Willingness to work beyond scheduled shifts when required.
• Ability to comply with the business-casual dress code.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building computers.
• Experience diagnosing Dell laptops and desktop computers.
• Hands-on experience replacing motherboards and LCD screens.

Additional Requirements

• Dell computer certifications must be completed as required before starting work. Certifications are provided at no cost to the candidate.
• Candidates must have a working printer at home.
• Candidates must have a reliable computer and high-speed internet connection at home.
• Candidates must have a backup transportation plan in case their vehicle becomes unavailable. Uber, Lyft, and public transportation are not acceptable backup options.
• Candidate must be willing to comply with customer and government clearance requirements, if applicable.
• Vaccination is not required.
• Travel from home to the regular work location is not compensated. Mileage incurred during the workday while traveling to service locations is reimbursed according to the applicable mileage policy.

• Work Arrangement: Onsite and field-based.
• Mileage: Approximately 250-350 miles per week.
• Citizenship Requirement: U.S. citizenship required due to potential travel to government and federal facilities.
