Job summary

Ampcus Inc. is seeking a Senior Tech Field Engineer to provide onsite technical support for laptops and desktops across North Syracuse and surrounding areas. The role requires hands-on repair skills and frequent travel to client sites.

The ideal candidate will troubleshoot hardware and software issues, document activities in real time, and maintain accurate records. A valid driver's license and auto insurance are required, with mileage reimbursement as applicable.

Qualifications

• 1+ year hands-on experience with laptop and desktop break-fix support.
• Strong knowledge of laptop and desktop hardware and software.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft applications.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve basic/non-complex technical issues.
• Valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle.
• Current and valid auto insurance.
• Ability and willingness to travel extensively, including driving 2-3 hours to customer locations when required.
• U.S. citizenship due to access requirements for federal and government facilities.
• Ability to complete required product training and certification.
• Ability to pass drug screening and background verification.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

We are seeking a Field Computer Technician to provide onsite technical support and break‑fix services for laptops, desktops, and related computer equipment throughout the metro area and surrounding locations.

The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience troubleshooting and repairing laptop and desktop hardware and be comfortable traveling extensively to customer locations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building or assembling computers.
• Previous field service or deskside support experience.
• Experience supporting government or enterprise customers.

Additional Requirements

• Reliable transportation is required.
• Candidates are not compensated for commuting to and from their normal work location. Mileage incurred during the workday while traveling between service locations will be reimbursed according to the applicable mileage policy.
• Client and/or governmental clearance may be required.
• Police or criminal background verification may be required.
• Occasional work beyond the scheduled shift may be required, including short‑notice overtime.
• Business casual dress is required when performing customer‑facing services.
• A reliable home computer and high‑speed internet connection are required for administrative and work‑related activities.
• Candidates must be willing to complete required computer certification prior to starting the assignment. Certification is provided at no cost to the candidate.

Compensation And Mileage

• Mileage during the workday between service locations is reimbursed according to the applicable mileage policy.
• Commuting to and from work is not reimbursed.
• Overtime compensation is provided as required by applicable local, state, and federal law.

Weekly Travel:

• 250-350 miles
