Job summary

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent).
• 1–4 years of construction experience, preferably with CM firm, GC, or owner’s rep.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to work on active construction sites.

Field Engineer

Location: Project sites (Oahu and other Hawaiian Islands as assigned)

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily field observations and document construction progress, means and methods, and compliance with plans and specifications.
• Prepare and maintain daily reports, photo logs, and observation records.
• Assist with RFI coordination, submittal tracking, and distribution of responses.
• Support quality control/quality assurance efforts, including inspection coordination and deficiency tracking.
• Monitor schedule progress in the field and provide updates to the project controls / scheduling team.
• Assist with change order documentation, quantity verification, and potential claim support.
• Participate in progress meetings, coordination meetings, and site walks.
• Help develop and track punch lists and closeout documentation.
• Coordinate with contractors, inspectors, and design team members on routine field issues.
• Promote and support site safety practices in accordance with project and company requirements.
• Maintain organized project files and support document control processes.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, etc.), Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
• 1–4 years of experience in construction, preferably with a construction management firm, general contractor, or owner’s representative.
• Working knowledge of construction means and methods, plans, specifications, and contract documents.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to work on active construction sites.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience on federal, state, or municipal projects.
• Familiarity with basic scheduling software, schedule updates, and basic delay analysis concepts.
• Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) or progress toward PE licensure, or Construction Manager-in-Training (CMIT) or Certified Construction Management (CCM)
• Prior experience supporting RFIs, submittals, change orders, and closeout.
• Knowledge of Hawaii construction practices and local agency requirements a plus.
