Job summary

Kirschner Contractors is seeking a Construction Inspector/Representative to conduct daily field observations and inspections on project sites, including Oahu and other Hawaiian Islands. You will verify work per contract docs, prepare daily reports, and track deficiencies, coordinating with inspectors and project staff.

The role requires 3+ years in construction, ability to read drawings, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.
• 3+ years of construction field experience, with at least 1–2 years in an inspection, quality control, or construction representative role.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail in documentation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic familiarity with construction management software.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to work on active construction sites in varying weather conditions.
• Physical ability to walk project sites, climb ladders/scaffolding as needed, and work outdoors for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily field observations and inspections of ongoing construction work.

• Prepare clear, accurate daily reports, photo logs, and observation records.
• Identify, document, and track deficiencies, non-conforming work, and quality issues.
• Coordinate and observe special inspections and material testing as required.
• Support development and tracking of punch lists and closeout items.
• Monitor contractor means and methods for basic safety compliance and report concerns.
• Maintain organized field files and support document control processes.
• Communicate observations and issues promptly to the Project Engineer/Construction Manager and coordinate with contractors as directed.
• Assist with quantity verification, progress measurement, and change order support when requested.
• Participate in site meetings, coordination walks, and progress reviews as needed.

• Prior experience with daily reports, deficiency tracking, and photo documentation.
• Familiarity with Hawaii construction practices, local agencies, and permitting processes.
• Experience supporting quality assurance/quality control programs.
