Job summary

IES is seeking an Electrical Service Technician to install, service, and repair electrical systems for residential and commercial sites, including post-construction work in occupied homes.

You will read blueprints, diagnose issues, and perform field diagnostics using essential tools while adhering to NEC and OSHA standards. The role requires independent field work and customer-focused service on diverse projects.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years hands-on electrical experience in field service.
• Ability to work independently in the field without direct supervision.
• Experience diagnosing electrical issues, troubleshooting systems, and performing service work.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in residential/commercial sites, including post-construction service.
• Read and interpret electrical blueprints, drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
• Troubleshoot issues and perform field diagnostics using multimeters and testers.
• Diagnose and resolve electrical problems efficiently in the field.
• Set t-poles and perform advanced electrical service work.
• Run conduit and wire per NEC standards (PVC, EMT, MC, Romex).
• Mount and install panels, outlets, boxes, switches, and fixtures.
• Perform service calls, repairs, and inspections to resolve issues promptly.
• Operate and manage a service truck independently on jobsites.
• Coordinate with general contractors and other trades on-site activities.
• Follow safety protocols and OSHA regulations; maintain tools and equipment.
• Complete precise service reports and material usage documentation.
• Provide professional customer service to homeowners.
