Job summary

Medina County Building Permits Department seeks a full-time Electrical Inspector responsible for inspecting electrical installations to ensure compliance with approved plans, codes, and safety standards. The role requires four years of journey-level electrical experience in both new and remodel projects, plus Ohio Electrical Inspector certification and a valid OH driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Four (4) years experience as a journey level electrician in new and remodeling work on commercial and residential electrical installations.
• Certification as a State of Ohio Electrical Inspector.
• Valid Ohio Driver’s License, with a good driving record.
• Able to perform inspections on sites having limited access due to rough grading and in various conditions of construction, including some climbing.
• Good written (punctuation, spelling and grammar) and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Inspect electrical installations to ensure compliance with approved plans, construction code and related requirements.
• Inspect new and existing electrical systems and equipment for compliance with local, state, and national codes for materials, workmanship, and safety factors.
• Compliance is ordered when violations are discovered.
• Work independently in the field and make decisions requiring technical discretion and sound judgment.
