Job summary

OXY, Inc. in Midland, TX is seeking an Operations Electrical Engineer with 3 years of experience to support field electrical infrastructure across our production operations.

The role focuses on troubleshooting, maintenance, project execution, and continuous improvement of high- and low-voltage systems in a demanding energy environment. This primarily field-based position requires traveling to operating locations (up to 200 miles) and spending more than 60% of time in the field.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Foundational knowledge of electrical power systems, power distribution, protective relaying, motor controls, and electrical safety practices.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Provide electrical engineering support for power-distribution equipment across field and plant operations.
• Assist with load-flow, short-circuit, relay-coordination, arc-flash studies using Windmil, ETAP, or EasyPower.
• Support development, review, and validation of protective-relay settings for SEL and Multilin relays.
• Assist with relay-testing activities and development of low-voltage circuit-breaker settings.
• Provide technical support for power-electronic equipment including soft starters and VFDs.
• Support electrical system modeling and reliability improvements.
• Participate in factory acceptance testing, commissioning, and start-up activities.
• Review electrical test results for cables, motors, transformers, switchgear, and protective devices.
• Develop field-ready switching procedures and support safe load-transfer activities.
• Participate in root-cause analyses of electrical failures.
