Job summary

Oxy in Midland, TX seeks an Operations Electrical Engineer to support field electrical infrastructure, troubleshoot and improve electrical systems across field and plant operations.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, 3+ years of experience in industrial power systems, and willingness to travel to operating locations. Relocation assistance may be available and a company car is provided for field work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• Foundational knowledge of electrical power systems, power distribution, protective relaying, motor controls, and electrical safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide electrical engineering support for power-distribution equipment across field and plant operations.
• Assist with design and execution of projects including load-flow, short-circuit, relay-coordination, arc-flash, motor-starting, and harmonic studies.
• Support protective-relay settings and programs for SEL and Multilin relays.
• Assist with relay-testing activities, including current-injection testing.
• Provide technical support for power-electronic equipment including VFDs and excitation controls.
• Support electrical system modeling and reliability improvements.
• Participate in factory acceptance testing, commissioning, and start-up activities.
• Review and interpret electrical test results for cables, motors, transformers, switchgear, and breakers.
• Develop field-ready switching procedures and safe load-transfer practices.
• Participate in root-cause analyses of electrical failures and recommend corrective actions.
