Job summary

Occidental Petroleum Corporation in Midland, Texas, seeks an Operations Electrical Engineer with 3+ years of experience to support field electrical infrastructure. You will help with design, testing, and commissioning of high-, medium-, and low-voltage systems across field and plant operations.

The role is primarily field-based, with opportunities to travel up to 200 miles and a company car provided. Relocation assistance may be available; you will join the ORCM Production Operations Business

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
3+ years of electrical engineering experience in industrial/oil and gas settings.
Experience with high/medium voltage power distribution.
Knowledge of NFPA 70E arc-flash methodologies and electrical safety.

Responsibilities

Provide electrical engineering support for power-distribution equipment and low/medium/high-voltage systems.
Assist with design and execution of projects, including load-flow and relay coordination studies.
Develop, review and validate protective-relay settings for SEL and Multilin relays.
Support relay testing using Doble equipment and protection coordination studies.
Support power-electronic equipment and VFDs/soft starters.
Model electrical systems and contribute to reliability improvements.
Participate in factory acceptance testing, commissioning, and start-up activities.
Review test results for cables, motors, transformers and switchgear; develop switching procedures.
Contribute to root-cause analyses of electrical failures and corrective actions.
