Job summary

Oxy seeks an Operations Electrical Engineer with 3+ years of experience to support field electrical infrastructure across Midland, Texas. You will troubleshoot, maintain, and improve electrical systems, while coordinating with operations, maintenance and project teams in a field-based setting.

Responsibilities include power-distribution support, relay settings, fault analysis, and commissioning activities, with travel to operating locations as needed and a company car provided for field work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• Foundational knowledge of electrical power systems, distribution, relaying, motor controls and electrical safety.

Responsibilities

• Provide electrical engineering support for field power-distribution equipment and HV/MV/LV systems.
• Assist with design and execution of projects including load-flow, short-circuit, relay-coordination and arc-flash studies.
• Review protective-relay settings and test programs for SEL/Multilin relays.
• Support relay-testing activities and low-voltage circuit-breaker settings.
• Provide technical support for power-electronic equipment and motor controls.
• Model electrical systems and evaluate capacitor banks and distribution configurations.
• Participate in commissioning, start-up and factory acceptance testing.
• Review test results for cables, motors, transformers, switchgear and breakers.
• Develop switching procedures and support safe load transfers.
• Contribute to root-cause analyses of electrical failures.
