Job summary

Barnhart Crane & Rigging in Chicago seeks a Project Manager to lead diverse customer projects from award to closeout. This hands-on, field-driven role requires spending significant time on job sites, ensuring safety, schedule, profit and customer satisfaction.

You will coordinate with sales, engineers and vendors, develop and maintain schedules, communicate status, manage budgets, and foresee and solve problems on site. Travel to client sites and plants is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in managing complex projects, especially in a field-heavy setting.
• Strong leadership and team coordination capabilities.
• Ability to plan, track progress and adjust to changing site conditions.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight and improvement of project management efficiency in alignment with senior leadership principles.
• Participate in site visits, proposals, and contract reviews to clarify scope, obligations and risk.
• Lead projects from sales through development into execution and document scope changes affecting schedule or budget.
• Interact with customers, engineers, vendors, and other stakeholders during design and planning.
• Develop and maintain overall project schedule with focus on critical path and cost control.
• Communicate project status including schedule, financials, risk, quality and safety to stakeholders.
• Coordinate work crews and scheduling of equipment; travel as needed; work with field leadership.
