Job summary

Saronic Technologies is seeking a Forward Deployed Hardware Engineer to bring autonomous maritime systems from lab to fleet. This hands-on, field-oriented role combines mechanical and electrical work across lab, fabrication spaces, and waterfront environments.

You will integrate payloads, lead rapid prototyping, perform system bring-up, and own dockside tests. Collaborate with Mechanical, Electrical, Software, and Autonomy teams to deploy robust hardware in mission-critical settings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field; Master’s preferred.
• 3+ years of experience with integrated electromechanical systems in lab or field environments.
• Hands-on assembly and fabrication experience (CNC, sheet metal, 3D printing).
• Hands-on electrical integration experience (power, cabling, connectors, PCB bring-up).
• Proven rapid prototyping and system-level debugging ability.
• Familiarity with CAD and field integration setups; Linux-based systems and basic software tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical and electrical integration of novel systems onto Autonomous Service Vessels and maritime platforms.
• Drive rapid prototyping for field experiments and platform evolution.
• Perform system bring-up, integration, and debugging of power, networking, sensors, and compute subsystems.
• Own dockside and sea trials including vessel prep, hardware installation, and validation in realistic environments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evolve and harden system designs.
• Interface with suppliers and fabrication shops for fast component turnarounds.
• Contribute to documentation and training to scale deployment and manufacturing.
