Job summary

Saronic Technologies seeks a Senior Forward Deployed Software Engineer to integrate, deploy, and improve autonomous systems on real vessels. You will debug and optimize autonomy algorithms, refine sensor fusion, and ensure robustness in dynamic maritime environments.

Responsibilities include field testing, data‑driven software improvements, and collaboration with operators to tailor the autonomy stack for mission needs. Remote field work up to 50% is possible.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in autonomy or robotics software engineering.
• Strong programming skills in C++, Rust, Python for performance‑critical systems.
• Background in robotics, autonomy, or embedded systems relevant to maritime contexts.
• Experience with networking and distributed systems in mission‑critical environments.
• Hands‑on work with perception sensors and real‑time sensor fusion.
• Ability to debug cross‑disciplinary issues spanning software, hardware, and networking.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and optimization of autonomy, networking, and mission execution software.
• Drive field testing and deployment strategies under operational conditions.
• Analyze mission‑critical data and translate insights into software improvements.
• Architect new autonomy capabilities with modular, scalable design.
• Collaborate with operators and end‑users to evolve the autonomy stack.
• Lead incident response and root cause analysis across software, hardware, and networking.
• Mentor cross‑functional teams and establish deployment protocols and docs.
