Job summary

Building & Earth Sciences, Inc is seeking a Construction Materials Testing Level II Technician to provide field testing observations on assigned projects in Georgia. Responsibilities include sample preparation, collection & testing, field observations and documentation of soil, concrete, grout, mortar and asphalt.

The role requires 1+ year CMT experience and certs (ACI Level I, ICC Soils Inspector) plus a valid driver’s license, with night and weekend shifts as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 12 months experience in construction materials testing.
• ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Level I Certification.
• Portable Nuclear Gauge Safety Training Certification.
• ICC Soils Special Inspector Certification.
• Understanding of Proctor Compaction Test and USCS Soil Classification.
• Competency in One-Point Proctor testing in the field.
• Competency in reading detailed plans and specifications.
• Competency in mortar and grout sampling and testing.
• General knowledge of asphalt placement monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Receive, understand and execute written and verbal directions.
• Review specifications for civil and structural plans and identify applicable sections.
• Perform tests, inspections and observations with minimal supervision.
• Submit daily field reports documenting testing and observations.
• Document and communicate non-conforming items to project supervision.
• Calibrate and maintain testing equipment.
• Operate and care for nuclear density gauge per safety program.
• Demonstrate One-Point Proctor testing in the field.
• Read and interpret detailed plans and specs.
• Sample and test mortar, grout, and asphalt as required.
