Job description

Ledcor is seeking an experienced Field Construction Manager responsible for the smooth functioning of day-to-day field operations to ensure that large-scale fiber optic projects are completed on time and within budget. Fully competent in construction practices, you will develop and implement the project plan and schedule, ensure safety and quality control, and delegate work to field staff, contractors, and tradespeople.

You will complete this role independently and act as a resource for colleagues with less experience. This position is guided by department policies, resource requirements, budgets, and the business plan.

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Ensure projects are built according to approved plans, specifications, shop drawings, and applicable building codes, maintaining high-quality standards.
2. Participate in developing the Project Quality Plan (PQP) and manage PQP conformance on site.
3. Ensure site safety measures meet or exceed corporate safety manuals and regulatory requirements; oversee project safety meetings as needed.
4. Monitor construction schedules on large projects to meet milestones and completion dates.
5. Identify and analyze scheduling issues or delays, supporting solution development.
6. Estimate activity durations and material requirements for large, multi-discipline estimates, including design-build projects.
7. Recognize and analyze impacts of change requests within scope of responsibility.
8. Provide guidance to field staff, coordinate resources, and adapt plans to meet operational objectives.
9. Manage subcontractors regarding costs, safety, schedule, and quality expectations.
10. Oversee the preparation of purchase requisitions and review of subtrade/supplier invoices.

Qualifications:

• Five to eight years of construction experience as a Superintendent or in a similar supervisory role.
• Two-year college, trade, or technical diploma preferred.
• Strong understanding of current construction practices, documents, costs, and budgets.
• Ability to plan and manage project schedules, identify constructability issues, and support solutions within scope.
• Excellent communication skills to interpret stakeholder needs and lead diverse teams.

Work Conditions:

• This is a site-based position.
• Up to 40% travel across Pennsylvania and to various Ledcor offices.
