Job summary

City and County of Honolulu is seeking two Assistant Construction Inspectors to oversee wastewater construction projects. You will inspect work, monitor field activities, and prepare reports to ensure compliance with plans, specs, and regulations, including NPDES requirements.

Position requires at least one year of related experience; substitutions include relevant drafting or engineering degrees. Valid driver’s license and field readiness are expected; evenings and travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to a high school education; substitutions allowed for education.
• One year of experience inspecting or supervising construction work.
• Education substitutions may include drafting or architecture/engineering degrees.

Responsibilities

• Inspect construction work to ensure compliance with plans and contract requirements.
• Monitor grading, paving, concrete, reinforcing steel, pile driving and backfill activities.
• Prepare inspection reports and maintain project documentation.
• Verify completed work for contractor payments and project progress.
• Enforce contract compliance by documenting deficiencies and coordinating corrective actions.
