Job summary

The City and County of Honolulu, HI, is seeking a Building Construction Inspector to inspect diverse public projects, ensure compliance with plans, specifications and safety standards, and contribute to high-quality, safe city facilities.

Responsibilities include reviewing shop drawings, coordinating tests, conducting daily field inspections, and preparing change orders and progress reports. A valid driver's license (Type 3) is required.

Qualifications

• Four years of experience inspecting or supervising building construction work.
• Ability to read and interpret plans and blueprints.
• Knowledge of safety standards and building inspection methods.
• Possession of a valid driver's license (Type 3).

Responsibilities

• Review and correct shop drawings, submittals, payment requests, and construction schedules.
• Check elevation requirements for installation of gas, water, sewer, storm drain, and electrical duct lines.
• Coordinate tests including concrete, special inspection, utilities, equipment and systems.
• Conduct daily field inspections of projects.
• Coordinate and conduct pre-final and final inspections of assigned projects.
• Prepare change orders, reports, costs and progress estimates, and related correspondence.
• Evaluate and maintain records of work progress, labor and equipment and methods.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
