Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an on-site field inspector to join our Transportation Construction, Engineering and Inspection group. The role involves working at various project locations and supporting inspection activities directly on construction sites.

You will review daily contractor reports, verify quality control procedures, and assist with material testing while traveling to assigned projects as needed. This position emphasizes hands-on inspection and on-site problem solving.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• 0 years of experience; additional related experience considered in lieu of degree.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required, depending on duties and workload.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials under direct supervision.
• Review contractor daily reports and QC procedures; verify conformance with Quality Control Plan.
• Review material testing procedures and results for conformance to contract; measure quantities of materials placed.
• May perform sampling and in-place testing of soil, aggregate base, concrete and asphalt pavement.
